Calendar of Events

The CWC Board Meeting meets at Grace Lutheran Church (no affiliation), 1200 E Hebron Parkway, Carrollton, TX 75010 at 10 a.m. All members are welcome at board meetings. 

Hand-and-Foot Canasta. Come at noon. We meet at IHOP (in the private room to the right), 2625 Old Denton Rd (just north of Bush Turnpike). All are welcome, even if you don't know how to play! We eat lunch and play until around 2:30 or so.

 

Our meeting day is the 1st Thursday of each month. Canasta coordinator: Eilene Francis, eilenefrancis1@verizon.net 

Bookmarks is our book club. We meet at 10 a.m. at Marshall's BBQ to discuss the book for the month. Our chair is Nancy Fitzpatrick (fitznanc@gmail.com). Come join us!

Our program: "The Shooting of Nancy Howard" 

Alice Mathews, a member of CWC has co-written a book with her friend and honorary CWC member, Nancy Howard.

As you might imagine, the title describes a horrific event in Nancy's life.  These ladies have a tale to tell of disloyalty, evil, greed, disbelief, betrayal and finally with God's help, justice.  You don't want to miss this program.

We go to the movies the 3rd Tuesday of each month. The decisions as to which movie, and location/time are not made until a few days prior. Usually it is the 1st movie time of the morning, and we lunch afterwards.

We have just had a Charity opportunity proposed to us!

 

Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children at 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, Texas 75219 (Oak Lawn exit off Tollway and 35) has a fund raising bazaar in November and they need help with the craft that is their best seller – Walnut Turkeys … and they need 250 of them! These sell out every year.  They will provide all the materials and the directions to make them.  There is a delicious cafeteria for lunch.  We can start at 10 a.m. and you can stay as long as you want.

We suggest forming your own carpools and we will have sign-up sheets and driving directions at the General meeting on October 12. You can wear your pink shirts and, since we are a crafty club, we hope you can help out.  Sorry for the short notice, but the lady in charge said their crafters are doing so many other things that they really need help.
