Spring Event: Raffle, Fashion Show, Luncheon

Carrollton Women's Club 2020 Spring Event:
Fashion Show, Luncheon & Raffle

CANCELLED because of the novel coronavirus.

May 22, 2020

The Covid-19 virus pandemic has brought much chaos and uncertainly into our daily lives.  It has interfered with family time, social gatherings, our education system, visits to the hair salon and even with routine grocery  shopping.  However, there is something that this pandemic has not interrupted, and that is our club’s determination to raise funds for and award scholarships to young women in our community.

Thank you for your incredible generosity in donating your Spring Event tickets.  As a result of those donations, combined with your cash donations to our raffle fund, plus donations from our business community, I am very pleased to announce that we have at least $25,000 in scholarship fund available.

Our Scholarship Committee chairs, Anita Leclaire and Nancy Fitzpatrick, are working diligently with school counselors in our district to encourage scholarship applications.  School closings have created an unprecedented challenge for everyone involved in this process.  I am confident that we will be able to award some scholarships to qualified young ladies to help them with college expenses.  Any unused scholarship funds will be carried over to 2021.

Below is a list of companies and individuals that made cash or raffle prize donations for our 2020 Spring Event.  When the current isolation restrictions are lifted and we are finally about to get out and about, please remember to thank them for their support to the Carrollton Women’s Club.

We began our 100th Anniversary year with a great kick-off meeting in January, but the momentum was temporarily halted with the pandemic.  I assure you that we will continue to ROAR INTO THE ‘20s as our club resumes in September.  Be well!

March 18, 2020

It is with great regret that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 Spring Event on April 9, 2020. Given the current guidelines for the COVID-19 virus, we are not able to go ahead with the event.

Because of our longstanding relationship, Brookhaven Country Club will allow us to reschedule the event to April 8, 2021 without penalty.

There are many questions that come with this cancellation. We have answers for some of them. Some questions will be answered in the future.

What happens to my ticket?

There are two options:
  1. You may donate the cost of your 2020 Spring Event ticket to the Scholarship Fund. The full $40 cost of the ticket will be tax deductible.
  2. Though we have a no refund policy on tickets, you may request one. We ask that all requests for refunds be submitted by Thursday, April 9, 2020.
If you purchased your ticket through a table hostess, she will contact you to ask if you will donate or request a refund.

If you purchased an individual or small group ticket and would like a refund, please let Jackie Pendleton know by April 9 at jackie@rjpendleton.com or 972-816-4312. If we do not hear from you by April 9, we will assume that you are donating your ticket. No need to respond.

What will we do with these ticket donations?
If we are able to award scholarships for the 2020 graduates, the donated ticket monies and other available cash donations will be used to provide them.

What will we do with the raffle donations?
For now, the raffle donations will stay safely stored in the storage unit and in individual homes until next year. If you would like to have a donation you made or facilitated returned, please contact Lundy Forbes (lundy.forbes@gmail.com or 972-898-3967.) These requested items will not be returned until the COVID-19 situation is resolved.

What about the raffle tickets that I've already purchased?
Keep your tickets. We will use the same color next year. Your tickets will be good for the 2021 Spring Event raffle.

Ladies, we appreciate your understanding about our decision to cancel the 2020 Spring Event. There are still many decisions to be made and questions to be answered. We will work on these over the next month or so.

Thank you,
Patsy Russell and Lundy Forbes
